Rona Porter

Rona Porter is a cellist and composer, based in Inverness, Scotland. Rona has worked as a peripatetic string instructor in the Highland region for twenty years, teaching hundreds of children how to play the violin, viola, cello and double bass.

During that time, her knowledge of the needs of young instrumentalists have led her to arrange many works for varied string ensembles, and compose new works, too.

Rona has had several compositions published by the world’s leading classical music publisher, Boosey and Hawkes. Her compositions for double bass have also been selected by The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music for inclusion in the Grade 3 and Grade 4 music performance syllabus for double bass.
